7 Firms Honored in LaCantina Doors Design Competition

LaCantina Doors invited architects and interior designers to share their most eye-catching projects with the company’s folding, sliding, and swing systems as part of an inaugural design competition in partnership with Architizer. Seven inspired projects were awarded in the following categories: Best in Show, Best Rural Residential, Best Suburban Residential, Best Urban Residential, Best Commercial, Best Compact, and Most Innovative. The winning projects were judged on architectural excellence, creative design, and the best of use of LaCantina door and window products to transform open spaces. Chrissie Beavis Design’s Foust Residence in Newport Beach, California, integrates multiple LaCantina systems, including a door package of a zero-post folding door, folding windows, and swing doors.

In Boerne, Texas, Craig McMahon Architects’s Augusta residence features two 16-foot-wide multi-sliding door systems in black anodized aluminum framed by structural timber.

Best Suburban Residential

The Liszt Residence by Materia/Trace Wilson Design uses multiple LaCantina folding and swing door systems to frame scenic views of the San Diego coastline.

Infill Studio’s renovation of a 19th-century Stick style Victorian in San Francisco honors its historic architecture with a LaCantina folding system’s narrow stiles and custom colors.

Space Pod in Boulder, Colorado, by Studio B Architecture Interiors incorporates LaCantina’s pocketing multi-slide system in the living space.

For the Stein Erikson Lodge in Park City, Utah, Think Architecture used LaCantina’s bifolding doors to connect the lodge with its mountainous environs.
