Interior Design Magazine Celebrates 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees

Much-Anticipated 32nd Annual Design Awards Honor the Most Prominent and Influential Architects and Designers in the Industry

Interior Design magazine (interiordesign.net), the definitive resource for design professionals worldwide, has announced the honorees of its 32nd annual Hall of Fame (HoF) Awards. Selected by Interior Design Editor in Chief, Cindy Allen, and a nominating committee of previous HoF members, this year’s inductees include Anda Andrei of Anda Andrei Design; Brad Zizmor and Dag Folger of A+I; Isay Weinfeld; and a special leadership award to Cheryl S. Durst of International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

Hosted by Allen and Interior Design Publisher, Carol Cisco, the most anticipated event in the design industry will take place at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on Wednesday, November 30. This 32nd HoF celebration marks the last year that the Awards will be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria, as the hotel is closing the room shortly thereafter for a three-year renovation project.

A sophisticated group of 1,300 industry leaders including designers, architects, manufacturers and design supporters will be present to honor the new inductees at the black-tie event, which begins with a cocktail reception in the salons next to the Grand Ballroom. A special VIP reception is also held, with the invited guests ranging from Hall of Fame members, benefactors, editors, members of the press, and sponsors. Dinner and the awards ceremony follow the reception.

“The Hall of Fame honors architects, interior designers, and industry luminaries whose talent, vision, and dedication contribute to design’s impact everywhere. Simply put, it’s our Oscars!” said Cindy Allen, Editor in Chief of Interior Design. “This year, we focus our laser beam on the leading categories in our sphere—workplace, hospitality and residential—and our inductees’ collective design enhances the lives of their clients, many communities, and our world.”

“For 32 years the Hall of Fame has been celebrated in the Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Ballroom,” said Carol Cisco, Publisher of Interior Design. “In light of the hotel’s closing for renovations, this year will be particularly meaningful for our community.”

As always, proceeds from the event are donated to not-for-profit organizations supporting the design industry. Once again this year, the Awards will support the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and the Alpha Workshops. Past recipients have also included Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA), Architecture for Humanity, the International Interior Design Association and L’Aquila Temporary Concert Hall Through Shigeru Ban Architects.

Seats for the event can be purchased through Regina Freedman by calling 917-934-2835 or emailing [email protected].
