Bec Brittain just gave birth to her son. And then she finished producing the 10 lamps in “Autonomic,” which were on view at Patrick Parrish gallery in New York last month. The two LED collections represent the designer’s first exhibit of freestanding fixtures—and challenge typical structural limitations at that. The leather straps supporting the rods of the bronze Crane, for instance, are secured by pennies hidden inside. For the tall and twisting Vault, she disguised the typically unattractive electrical cord in plated brass tubing.
