Blu Dot Real Good Chair Experiment

New Yorkers, raise your hand if you’ve been known to do a bit of “curb-mining” now and again. We thought so.

Blu Dot put a spin on the age old city pastime of finding furniture or art on the street and giving it a new home—most often within one’s own abode. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their first showroom, the furniture manufacturer launched The Real Good Experiment, a curb-mining experiment of their own.

On November 4 and 5, Blu Dot dropped 25 Real Good Chairs around New York City, some even enabled with GPS. The chairs were free for the taking and Blu Dot fans were able to follow their journeys in real time at bludot.com/real-good-experiment. Updates from the field were announced on their Twitter feed at twitter.com/realgoodchair.

The chairs, which have now found permanent homes, are currently being tracked by Blu Dot, who will be interviewing the new owners to be featured in a documentary slated for a December release.
