If you're a product designer looking to showcase a prototype on one of the industry's biggest stages, you've got until January 15 to submit your entries to ICFF Studio.
A collaboration between furniture-design powerhouse Bernhardt Design and ICFF producer, GLM, the ICFF Studio is a group showcase with individual booths at New York's annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair,
held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center May 15-18, 2010. The pair is calling for entries from designers working on all product categories being displayed at ICFF, including indoor and outdoor furniture, seating, carpeting, flooring, lighting, wallcoverings, textiles, kitchen and bath products, materials, and accessories.
Selected designers, who will be announced on February 1, will be invited to display their prototypes in 6- by 17-foot booths designed by TRUCK Product Architecture. From the booths, winners will be assisted in making connections with potential manufacturers, retailers, and the press. Past participants have drummed up media coverage, secured manufacturer contracts, and even started their own companies as a result of ICFF Studio.
GLM has also set a January 15 deadline for submissions from design schools to display student's original products and prototypes. Six schools will be selected to occupy 200-square-foot booths on the ICFF floor and have their work judged by editors from a handful of the industry's top publications. The school's selected for participation will be notified by February 1.
