In a move it hopes will attract recession-weary homeowners, kitchen manufacturer Henrybuilt Corporation is introducing Viola Park, a new, more affordable kitchen company.

Designed as a collection of interchangeable components, the sleek, streamlined modular kitchens can be configured for a wide range of architectural styles. Sold through its own website and showrooms, the average Viola Park kitchen package runs in the $15,000 range, depending on size, complexity, and the individual units chosen (countertops and a backsplash are not included in the figure).

Viola Park representatives cite industry guidance figures that suggest homeowners should spend in the range of 15 percent of the value of their home on a full kitchen remodel and set aside 40 percent of that figure just for cabinetry. Based on those figures, Viola Park sees itself as a viable option for consumers with homes valued in the $300,000 to $350,000 range.

"The luxury market is shifting with the economy and is likely to result in a higher price point with an increased level of service and customization," says Chris Barriatua, vice president of sales for Henrybuilt. "Viola Park was created to provide the growing mid-segment of the market well designed, cohesive kitchen systems at an accessible price while also improving on the way this kind of product is sold."
