Odegard Opens San Francisco Showroom

In conjunction with the opening, the showroom is hosting "Faces of Freedom," a photography exhibition on child labor and the South Asian rug industry.

Descending upon yet another design district, carpet impresario Stephanie Odegard has opened a new flagship showroom on the third floor of the San Francisco Design Center.

The 2,875-square-foot space features Odegard's collection of hand-knotted wool carpets and custom furnishings, including a showcase of the just-launched Mughal Collection, a series inspired by 17th century India. Handcrafted furnishings sport marble surfaces inlaid with semi-precious stones, rosewood inlaid with mother of pearl, and hand-hammered copper.

To help mark the opening, the showroom is hosting "Faces of Freedom," a RugMark Foundation-sponsored exhibit of photography by U. Roberto Romano that depicts child labor in the South Asian rug industry, running through June 12. Odegard remains the largest contributor to RugMark, and a percentage of every Odegard carpet produced and imported is paid to the foundation to ensure that they are made without child labor.

Dana Greason will manage the showroom, while outside sales representative Anne Zettle will promote the brand through an outreach program in the Bay Area's art and design community.
