Much like his trademark vacuum designs, James Dyson is gliding into 2009 by rolling together his former Eye for Why design competition with 20 regional student design competitions into the new, inclusive James Dyson Award.
Run by the vacuum entrepreneur's namesake foundation, the recharged award will offer students the opportunity to claim nearly $15,000 in total prize money. Students and their universities can submit entries, including footage, images, and sketches of their ideas to an interactive website along with stories detailing their design process and inspiration, through June 15, 2009. The winner will be announced on September 7.
