Haworth Showrooms Snag LEED Gold

They join Haworth showrooms in Chicago, Los Angeles and Pune, India in earning the distinction.

For athletes and office furniture manufacturers alike, bringing home the gold five times is a pretty impressive feat. Which is exactly what Haworth has just done, by securing two more LEED-Gold certifications for Commercial Interiors.

The most recent additions, showrooms in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, join Haworth locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Pune, India in earning the second-highest environmental distinction from the U.S. Green Building Council.

In Washington, Haworth earned LEED points for green strategies that include retrofitting plumbing fixtures to increase water efficiency, specifying regional materials and diverting more than three-quarters of it's onsite construction waste from landfills. In Dallas, the company leverages its proximity to public transportation, improves water efficiencies, accesses natural light and purchases renewable energy credits. Both showrooms earned LEED points for incorporating furnishings that were manufactured with significant amounts of recycled and recyclable content.

"At Haworth, we're always looking for green strategies with multiple impacts," says company project manager Mitch Boucher. "We worked closely with the owners of both buildings to manage construction waste effectively, specify energy-efficient appliances and contribute to the continued rejuvenation of the surrounding neighborhoods."
