Iowa is where it all begins for presidential candidates, but it’s a different type of campaign that Bentley Prince Street is now waging in the Hawkeye State. The manufacturer is sending more than 26,000 yards of carpet to Habitat for Humanity there to assist flood victims in rebuilding.
A variety of styles, patterns, and colors are being dispatched from Bentley Prince Street’s California mill to the non-profit's affiliates in three Iowa communities devastated by the state's record June flooding: Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Coralville. It's currently estimated that more than 9,000 of the nearly 22,000 homes in those communities have been designated flood-damaged and uninhabitable. Habitat for Humanity will store the carpet in its facilities, where eligible flood victims will be able to visit and select the carpet that meets their needs.
"Giving back to our communities in need is a core element of our social sustainability mission, and a key aspect of how we measure our success as a company," says Bentley Prince Street president Anthony Minite. "It is all of our responsibility to help victims of natural disasters across the country, and we encourage our fellow businesses to participate in helping our neighbors in Iowa rebuild their homes and businesses in whatever way they can."
