Competitors were required to design a home, either by hand or using Google SketchUp 3D software, during the SEBC tradeshow's hours.

Giving new meaning to working on a deadline, Allen Beaumont and David Pillsbury took home top honors at Orlando's Southeast Builder Conference Concept Awards Design Competition, a contest that required participants to complete a design concept for a home during the tradeshow's hours.

Sponsored by Whirlpool Corporation and the American Institute of Building Design, the competition called for contestants to create a preliminary design of a contemporary home for a dual income couple with two adolescent children and aging in-laws, either by hand or by using Google SketchUp 3D software.

Beaumont, president of B&D Design Studio, and Pillsbury, of Morales-Keesee Design Associates, not only fulfilled the spatial requirements of the program, but also met the competition’s environmental priorities by including sustainable building practices and products.

David Pillsbury's entry utilized Google SketchUp.
