Lighting Firm Aids Earthquake Victims in China

The Red Cross Society of China is the recipient of the funds.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 7/14/2008

A lighting firm in Garden City, New York is stepping up to help earthquake victims in western China. W.A.C. Lighting, along with the other members of the Flushing Chinese Business Association of Flushing, Queens, has helped raise nearly $250,000 in quake relief.

W.A.C. Lighting recently opened a manufacturing facility in southern China. The facility employs 42 people from the earthquake zone--seven of which saw their family homes destroyed.

The relief will be gifted to the Red Cross Society of China, which was the first on the scene to help victims.

"Our company and its employees are coming together to raise funds to help earthquake victims throughout China," says W.A.C. Lighting vice president and co-founder Tai Wang, who is leading the initiative. "Additionally, we are working closely with the Flushing Chinese Business Association of Queens to consolidate our efforts."

W.A.C. Lighting produces track, recessed, under cabinet, decorative, and monorail lighting.
