A Movable Feast

MoMA looks to the past, and the future, in an upcoming exhibit devoted to prefabricated housing.

With issues of sustainability in the air, the word prefab is on everyone’s lips. “Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling” is a full-scale celebration of the trend. From July 20 to October 20, an empty lot next to New York’s Museum of Modern Art will host five full-scale prefab structures by five design teams: KieranTimberlake Associates, Oskar Leo Kaufmann Architects, Jeremy Edmiston and Douglas Gauthier, Horden Cherry Lee Architects, and Lawrence Sass. Inside MoMA, the scale shrinks to showcase documents and models from 1833 to today.
