Haworth Opens Green New York Showroom  

The space was built in partnership with Perkins+Will/Eva Maddox Branded Environments and Turner Construction.

Haworth, one of the world's largest manufacturers of office furniture, has opened a 31,000-square-foot New York showroom built in partnership with Perkins+Will/Eva Maddox Branded Environments and Turner Construction Company. Located directly opposite Grand Central Station, the space is expected to earn LEED-CI Gold for its sustainable design.

The showroom is housed in a building originally designed by York & Sawyer in 1923. Features include a seating gallery, an adjacent design resource area containing upholstery and trim samples, and a wood salon showcasing wood and veneer options. A sustainability lab will help clients meet green goals, offering information on LEED criteria and product presentations.

Haworth committed to develop all its facilities in accordance with LEED guidelines in 2004 and has since registered seven projects that meet the goal of LEED Silver or higher for manufacturing facilities and LEED Gold for showrooms. Consistent with the company's other LEED showrooms, the New York space features moveable walls, raised access floors, and modular furniture. The showroom also features 30-foot ceilings and private offices and open spaces that demonstrate both individual and collaborative work environments.
