Water-saving Kohler Toilets in Times Square

The Kohler Barrington Pressure Lite needs one-half gallon less water than a standard toilet.

Through December 31 in New York, Holiday shoppers in need of the loo have 20 free (and clean) lavatories on hand in Times Square. The Charmin Holiday Restrooms are fitted out with water-saving toilets and faucets from kitchen and bath manufacturer Kohler Co. And, naturally, Charmin brand toliet paper from Procter & Gamble.

In addition to meeting demand and providing a platform for product presentation, the installation was conceived to inspire environmental awareness.

"We are excited to partner with Procter & Gamble to demonstrate KOHLER plumbing products, which are specifically designed to save water while remaining true to a singular level of quality for performance and design," says Rob Zimmerman, senior staff engineer-water conservation for Kohler.

Each restroom, cleaned after every use, includes a Kohler Barrington Pressure Lite 1.1 gallons-per-flush toilet and a Kohler Margaux collection faucet. Stamped with the Environmental Protection Agency's new WaterSense label, the toilet needs one-half gallon less water than a standard toilet. The "joystick-style" faucet is designed for easy on-and-off use and temperature control. Kohler also supplied Parigi pedestal sinks and Margaux decorative bathroom accessories, including robe hooks and wall sconces.

Last year, over 420,000 people from 100 countries and all 50 states visited the Charmin Holiday Restrooms.
