New Yorkers have been profiting from the curated selection of furniture, lighting, tabletops, and objects at retailer Moss since former fashion entrepreneur Murray Moss opened a small former gallery space in SoHo in 1994. On August 3 in Los Angeles, Moss opens its first store outside of New York.
The 3,500-square-foot Los Angeles space is located on 8444 Melrose Avenue, just around the corner from the Pacific Design Center, the city's furnishings resource destination. To celebrate the opening, a Swarovski Crystal Palace installation of eighteen 8-foot high Vertical Glitterbox chandeliers by Georg Baldele has been erected, surrounding a 1938 Steinway Baby Grand fire-sculpted by Maarten Baas.
Also on view are Plus Perished, a laser-cut wooden furniture collection from Studio Job; studio work from Fernando and Humberto Campana and Tord Boontje; and the 606 Universal Shelving System designed by Dieter Rams for Vitsoe, which will be available for the first time in the city.
For those not in New York or Los Angeles, Moss has a full-service e-commerce site offering most of its product for online purchase.
