Peter Marino is turning his eye to furniture. The internationally-acclaimed architect, principal of Peter Marino Architect, has designed a luxury home furnishings line for furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau.
Composed of an armchair, a two-seater sofa, and a three-seater sofa, the Linea A collection premiered at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan last month. Marino based the designs—clad in Pelle Frau Heritage leather or Colour System leather—on cubism and the transparency and overlay of cubic parts. Frames are solid beech and seasoned poplar, and feet are wenge-stained solid beech.
“I’ve always wanted to design a chair as classic and perfectly proportioned as the Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chair,” says Marino. “In this chair every centimeter counts.”
Linea A is Marino's first line of furniture for commercial distribution. Peter Marino Architect’s client roster includes Fendi, Giorgio Armani, Andy Warhol, Valentino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Donna Karan, and Barneys New York.
