Interior Design Contest Calls for Loft Designs

Three applicants will have five weeks to fully furnish a raw loft.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 2/27/2007

Design build firm MetroPartnership is seeking loft design entries, due March 9, to the Interior Motives Design Competition (pdf). Applicants will propose luxury living and working interiors for three raw lofts at Lofts at Metro92 in Yonkers, New York.

Open to designers, design firms, schools, and students, the contest is an opportunity for free publicity. On April 30, during Yonkers business week, completed lofts will be open to the public and the media as a “Work/Live Design Showcase.” Lofts at Metro92 is located on the Hudson River in an area billed as on the rise. Several restaurants and attractions and a ferry stop to Manhattan are in development. Each loft is two stories and approximately 1,200 square feet.

Up to three applicants will be selected by March 16th. Each will receive a budget of $5,000.00 (a designer can add with donations or from their own budget) to furnish (appliances and most hardware excluded) and design “their” loft by April 20th.

One winning designer will be featured in all publicity and marketing efforts surrounding the competition and select upcoming METRO92 publicity and advertising efforts.

More information and applications are available at Metro92's Web site.
