Peter Marino had some stiff competition for the BOY Awards: himself. Ultimately, however, his Fendi in Rome beat out his Louis Vuitton in Hong Kong—it was the 7,500-square-foot Fendi flagship's travertine "ribbons" that tipped the scale. Other highlights include smoky greenish-gray marble flooring, a cascading 24-foot-long Murano glass 1960's chandelier, and the 19th-century palazzo that houses them. "Like the Fendi brand, this space had to be both modern and quintessentially Roman," says the architect, now an AIA Fellow as well as a member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame.
