Unbuilt Peter Marino Tower Earns Design Kudos

A series of interlocking apartments will feature both double and single height spaces.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 10/19/2006

Peter Marino Architect’s new residential tower, slated for 105 W. 57th Street in New York, is already gathering design accolades. In November, the tower's design will be honored by the Boston Society of Architects (BSA). As part of the BSA’s 15th annual Design Awards Program, Peter Marino Architects will receive the Unbuilt Architecture Design Award.

Sporting a prime Central Park location, the building is designed to take advantage of unlimited height restrictions—within a limited plot. A series of interlocking apartments, each featuring both double and single height spaces, soak up park views. The firm hopes the modern façade, a play on geometry, will make the building a contemporary landmark.

The award will be bestowed at a special jurors' forum on November 15th during Build Boston, the BSA's annual convention.

Led by principal Peter Marino, New York-based Peter Marino Architect has created residential and retail designs for the likes of Fendi, Armani, Warhol, Valentino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Donna Karan, and Barneys New York. Current projects include the Nasssau County Museum of Art in New York, the synagogue of the Jewish Congregation of Brookville on Long Island, and the Zwinger Porcelain Museum in Dresden, Germany.
