LED Lighting Workshop in Troy, New York
Participants can earn three CEUs and a Continuing Education Certificate in LED lighting technology.

From September 13-15, the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York will offer a three day educational program for industry professionals seeking new and innovative ways to incorporate LEDs into lighting applications. Featuring workshops and hands-on lab sessions highlighting LED technology, lighting design, and optical modeling, the LED Lighting Institute will tackle the newest LED products on the market. Three CEUs and a Continuing Education Certificate in LED lighting technology are available upon completion.
The course will address the latest advances in LED technology, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of LED products. Through hands-on demonstrations of a full range of LED technologies used in a variety of applications, participants will learn how to design lighting installations using LEDs and how to select and specify LED lighting system components. During one session, instructors will help attendees build sample lighting fixtures.
Instructors include Andrew Bierman, a senior lighting scientist at the LRC and an adjunct assistant professor teaching in the LRC's MS in Lighting program; Jean Paul Freyssinier, M.S., a lighting design specialist at the LRC; Michael Jensen, a professor in the department of mechanical, aerospace, and nuclear engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Nadarajah Narendran, an associate professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the LRC's director of research; and Patricia Rizzo, head of the residential lighting program at the LRC.
Only 30 spots are available. Sign up before August 12 and the course fee is $1,750. After August 12, the price increases to $1,900. Continental breakfasts and buffet lunches, course materials and manuals, and lighting equipment for demonstration are included. The LRC is located at 21 Union St in Troy.
