Design Lecture Series in Chicago
First up is Brigitte Shim, principal of Shim-Sutcliffe Architects in Toronto.

This Spring, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago will feature free lectures from notable design and architecture professionals as part of its new Design Matters series. Speakers will discuss "the ways in which our world is being shaped, from the chairs we sit on and the buildings we live in to the cities we call home," according to press material. The series kicks off with Brigitte Shim, Tuesday, April 4 at 6pm.
Shim, an architecture professor at the University of Toronto and principal of Shim-Sutcliffe Architects, will discuss the driving force of her firm, which explores the integration of furniture, architecture and landscape. This lecture is co-sponsored by Chicago Women in Architecture.
On April 11, at 6pm Amy Franceschini, a pioneer in the field of net art will take the podium. Franceschini is a founder of Futurefarmers, an art and design collaborative dedicated to expressing environmental and community interests through digital media.
Universal Design: A Catalyst for Invention, a panel discussion on the innovative ways universal design principles have been applied in cultural institutions, will be held Tuesday, April 25, at 6pm. The panel will include Marca Bristo, president and CEO of Access Living; Valerie Fletcher, executive director of Adaptive Environments; Coco Raynes, president of the multidisciplinary design firm Coco Raynes Associates; and Rebecca McGinnis, access coordinator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and universal design scholar. .
