Workplace furnishings manufacturer Trendway has awarded its George and Lucille Heeringa Design Scholarship to two students at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The scholarship was created in honor of Trendway's founding proprietors and is offered each year to interior design students at KCAD who exhibit scholastic aptitude, leadership abilities, community involvement, volunteer activities, and talent.

“Well educated and creative designers are the backbone of this industry," said Don Heeringa, Trendway's C.E.O. and chairman of the board. "Through this scholarship we are doing a small part in ensuring continuing excellence in contract design. We are pleased that circumstances allow us to offer two scholarships this year.”

Paul Henry, who is entering his senior year, is the recipient of one award. An interior design major with a minor in furniture design, Henry is focused on hospitality and entertainment design. He plans to pursue post-graduate education in either architecture or furniture design.

The second scholarship was awarded to interior design major, Janna F. Klein, an active traditional student who is also president of the college's ASID/IIDA student chapter. Klein is recognized as a key participant in creating Kendall's Collaboration by Design career day last year and has had an internship with Haworth since 2004.
