Atlanta's High Museum of Art can claim two Pritzker Prize winners for its very own when Renzo Piano's additions join the museum's 1983 structure by Richard Meier. As a complement to Meier's white enamel facade, Piano's three buildings—the Wieland Pavilion, Anne Cox Chambers Wing, and administrative center—are all clad in aluminum. Together, they total 177,000 square feet, and two of the buildings' roofs share a striking system of 1,000 "scooped" skylights that allow sunshine to filter into some galleries.
"Celebrate Architecture! Renzo Piano & Building Workshop," the internationally touring exhibition that inaugurates the expansion, tells the backstory via models, photographs, and drawings. November 12– April 2; 404-733-4400; high.org.
