NCIDQ Publishes Sustainable Book

A 25-question quiz is included.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 10/11/2005

The National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) has just released a self-study monograph tailored to provide interior design professionals an essential overview of environmentally-friendly design. Creating Sustainable Interiors offers current information on this emerging field, as well as a convenient and affordable way to earn Continuing Education Credits for registration or professional membership renewal.

Creating Sustainable Interiors is authored by Interior Design eco editor Penny Bonda, widely regarded as a leader in sustainable design issues. Bonda, a writer and lecturer in the field of environmental communications, also chairs the U.S. Green Building Council committee for LEED Commercial Interiors. A LEED Accredited Professional, Bonda has been a practicing interior designer for 27 years. She has headed her own firm and served as the interior design director for leading design and architectural firms.

Bonda suggests that one day, “green design” will be as common as universal design, and codes will direct designers in the right direction. Until then, interior designers must find ways to achieve common-sense environmental solutions in the most practical way possible.

Creating Sustainable Interiors, complete with a 25-question quiz designed to enable interior designers to demonstrate mastery of the topic, is priced at $115. Active NCIDQ Certificate holders receive a 10 percent with their Certificate number. More information and an order form are available online.
