Generously supporting educational and research initiatives in the profession, the International Furnishings and Design Association Education Foundation (IFDA/EF) awarded $13,600 of grant and scholarship money this year. Student honorees in furniture, product, and interior design disciplines, selected from an international pool of applicants, include Rebecca Goodman, California College of Arts and Crafts; Tirso Sigg and Simone Bailey from the Savannah College of Art & Design, Georgia; Dawn Michelle Turnberg, Dakota County Technical College, Minnesota; Brett Fisher, Pittsburg State University in Kansas; and Katerina Dijhovic, University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Northern California IFDA member Joan Long received a grant to develop course materials for design professionals.

The IFDA/EF also helps community projects through its historic preservation grants, awarded this year to the Sewall-Belmont House, a 200-year-old building on Capitol Hill that formerly housed the National Women's Party, and to the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Cottage Preservation Project of New Hyde Park, New York.
