City Views, City Hues

-- Interior Design, 1/1/2001

Through February 3rd, the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) presents The Color of Cities: Light, Perception and the Environment in Urban Design, a compilation of 74 vivid cibachromes by artist and teacher Lois Swirnoff, who studied under renowned color theorist Josef Albers. Culled from Swirnoff's travels to such diverse locales as Bethlehem, Tokyo, Santa Fe, and Copenhagen, the vignettes reveal how cultural influences and environmental conditions impact regional color preferences in architectural expression.

The Gallery of the New York School of Interior Design is located at 161 East 69th Street. For information, call (212) 472-1500.
