Florida's Art Harvest
edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 2/1/2003
A two-year project reaching completion in West Palm Beach, Florida, doubles the size of the Norton Museum of Art. At 112,500 square feet, it's now the largest art facility in the state. (Sarasota's John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art has held that title until now.) Designed by Connecticut's Centerbrook Architects and Planners, the new wing adds 14 galleries, for both permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as an enclosed courtyard for public events, a three-story oval atrium, and a ceiling installation by glass artist Dale Chihuly.
