MoMA's Big Move

Staff -- Interior Design, 6/1/2002

New York's Museum of Modern Art is opening its temporary building, MoMA QNS, in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Cooper, Robertson & Partners and architect Michael Maltzan, the onetime Swingline stapler factory features 25,000 square feet of exhibition space. A swooping ramp leads visitors from the front entrance to the galleries and mezzanine-level bookstore. Museum-goers can expect to encounter old favorites as well as recent additions to the permanent holdings in inaugural exhibitions including "Collection Highlights" and "Tempo." From June 29; 212-708-9400; www.moma.org.
