2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition Call For Projects
CERAMICS OF ITALY -- Interior Design, 12/18/2012 11:49:48 AM

Ceramics of Italy never lets an outstanding project go unnoticed. Each year, they celebrate projects that showcase ceramic tile and the architects and designers who create them. As a design-forward, sustainable and versatile material, Italian ceramic tile offers the A&D community unlimited opportunities to create innovative design projects and creative architectural solutions.

Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission invite you to submit domestic and international new construction and renovation projects completed between January 2008 and January 2013 for the 2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition. Now in its 20th year, the contest recognizes the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who feature Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential and commercial/hospitality spaces. Past winners include Belzberg Architects, Rene Gonzalez, Karim Rashid and Bernard Tschumi Architects.

A panel of design experts will judge the projects based on their creativity, functionality and aesthetic appeal. The official criterion includes: overall design of the project; innovative use of tile; tile design; quality of installation; degree to which tile enhances the setting; and the project’s sustainable attributes.

Winners will be announced at the Ceramics of Italy International Press Conference during Coverings in Atlanta, Georgia on April 30, 2013. The winning architect or designer in each category will receive a cash prize of $4,000 and a 5-day trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie 2013 – the world’s largest exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the winning contractor/tile distributor team in each category.
The competition is completely digital and free to enter! Deadline for entries is February 6, 2013. For the official competition guidelines and online submission form visit www.tilecompetition.com
