The results of our first designer job survey are in and the trends are positive. We asked. The industry answered. Now Interior Design offers the real story and stats behind job satisfaction.
We partnered with the International Interior Design Association and Interior Designers of Canada to create a comprehensive, large-scale industry survey. More than 2,300 professionals responded to questions ranging from happiness quotient (and what it comprises) to salary and benefits.
The data reveals positive trends industry-wide-and anecdotal evidence backs up the stats. "Having been in 10 cities in the last 12 days, talking to designers, there is optimism," says Cheryl Durst, IIDA executive vice president and CEO. "If a designer is allowed to design, she is threequarters of the way to being satisfied. Firms are busy, so there is work. Not just for established designers, but also for those coming out of school." Canadians concur. "The trend is impressive," says IDC executive director Susan Wiggins of the recovery. "There are 184 cranes working the skyline in Toronto alone."
