DesignIntelligence, the publication and rankings body of the Design Futures Council, has led industry-driven rankings in design disciplines for the past decade. Last year, SCAD was the first university in the rankings' history to receive top placement for undergraduate and graduate interior design programs. This year, we've done it again.
At SCAD, students learn from award-winning, full-time faculty who bring diverse and firsthand industry experience into the classroom.
Our interior design program challenges students to become innovative designers by emphasizing critical thinking, effective communication, and interdisciplinary coursework in related fields such as architecture, historic preservation, and furniture design. Our students master industry-standard design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3ds Max, among others.“SCAD's program in interior design is one of the largest and most professionally engaged interior design programs in the United States,” noted Khoi Vo, SCAD chair of interior design. “Students have the opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on experience through interdisciplinary collaborative studios with industry partners. They also hone their skills through internships with the world’s most creative firms and companies, developing invaluable professional connections. SCAD graduates possess a comprehensive education and skill set that enables them to contribute immediately to the field.”
The SCAD interior design Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, 206 Grandville Ave., Suite 350, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
