Anita Modha and Jonathan Nodrick may call Toronto home, but their imagination takes off with New York. The cofounders of Rollout, a source for custom wall coverings, span the city’s centuries and sensibilities in Wanderlust: New York, a 26-pattern tour of architecture, imagery, and curiosities.

The trip begins underground in Subway DiagramWithText, based on Vignelli Associates’s discontinued map of the system, and Route Bullets, a blurry matrix o MetropolitanTransportation Authority symbols. Historians should appreciate NYC VintageMap, just as preservationists will recognize GCT Blueprint, an elevation of the landmarked Grand CentralTerminal. But not all sources are so immediately identifiable, especially as smaller images repeat into abstraction, such as the beaux art detailing inYonkers Station Ceiling and the river of rows inWater Towers. The blooms in Pops of Pastel don’t necessarily read urban, unless you know that its designer, Matthew Langille, is also an avid backyard gardener.
