The Future Looks Bright

Rebecca Thienes and Arlene Hirst -- Interior Design, 8/1/2012 2:00:00 AM

the future looks bright

A former design director at both Tom Dixon and Georg Jensen, Todd Bracher is a team player, and he quickly points out that Lightfalls was a joint effort between his own Todd Bracher Studio and 3M. Bracher drove the development process by asking how the company’s proprietary Specular film could extend the reach and efficiency of a single LED source, and 3M staffers responded by working with optimization and ray- tracing software to calculate the perfect optical reflector. Harnessing sophisticated technology and engineering to dazzling effect, Light falls can, simply put, distribute light from a single LED over dramatically large areas. A variety of colors will be available when the product launches late this year. 888-364-3577; 3m.com.
