When it comes to a celebration, the more the merrier. Getting ready to mark 65 glorious years of KnollTextiles with the largest single rollout in more than a decade, creative director Dorothy Cosonas added two names to the guest list. She persuaded Randall Buck and Jee Levin, founders of the wall-covering specialist Trove, to collaborate on what's now officially known as the Vivid Collection by Trove.

Reflecting Buck and Levin's artistic predilections, the three patterns began as paintings. Experiments with colors in motion, seeing how they blend at varying speeds, engendered the swirls of Swerve. Applying the paint at different paces, timed by a stopwatch, resulted in Sway's irregular stripes. And Swoosh was informed by considerations of flight, from fluttering birds to soaring spirits.

The wall coverings are printed in orange, persimmon, plum, yellow, and aqua on a cellulose-polyester blend substrate. 866-565-5858; knolltextiles.com.
