Manufacturer: Tsar
Product: Geometric's Betsy
Standout: Flooring types blur, as tufting mimics tile
At first blush, Yvette Balderson's hexagons could be colorful ceramic tiles. Closer inspection reveals that the mosaic is actually hand-tufted in New Zealand wool. The trompe l'oeil derives from varying the pile height by 1/10 inch between the "tiles" and the "grout." With no width limitations or minimum-size requirements, Betsy can be used to compose both rugs and carpet, either in the 144 standard colors or in custom ones. 646-415-7968; tsarusa.com.
