Tx:style Design Challenge 2012

Interior Design Admin -- Interior Design, 1/10/2012 10:12:38 AM

manningtonThe interiors industry's top social networking competition, the tx:style design challenge, is open for submissions - with new prizes and opportunities for its winners.

The competition is an open invitation to designers to think creatively about what sort of flooring products they wish were available in the market, and then make these products a reality!

Any architect or interior designer with an internet connection can "create, collaborate and cash in" - uploading carpet design carpets to manningtontxstyle.com. Submissions close on 2.12.12.

Four finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges on the basis of public comments on the site, as well as aesthetics, creativity and manufacturability. Each finalist wins big - a $3,000 purse, promotion in a national advertising campaign, a trip to New York for a two-day Design Workshop, and a trip to NeoCon World's Fair in Chicago.

Voting will then open to the public, with the Grand Prize Winner selected entirely on the basis of these votes - and announced at NeoCon. This winner will create a full carpet collection to be manufactured and marketed by Mannington, a total purse of $7,000 and a trip to Milan, Italy for the International Furniture Fair.

The competition stimulates the kind of dialogue that explores new ideas, supports optimism in the industry and inspires new choices that work for design products everywhere. In fact, it has proven so popular, it has become an annual event, with three collections on the market from past winners, and two more currently in development for summer 2012 premiere.

Past winners are Squareberry, a best selling healthcare carpet collection that celebrates design details combining simple organic shapes with geometric grids. Rainfall is a luxurious, contemporary new look in LVT inspired by the luminescence of rain on glass, bringing beauty to the performance needed for high-traffic commercial applications.

And Matrix - pictured, and being launched this week - inspired an innovation in variable space dye yarn exclusive to Mannington, creating sophisticated gradations of color and texture, with random pops of color.
