UM Project

Users and Makers. Those are the two groups that François Chambard had in mind when he founded UM Project, a design studio and manufacturing house proving there's a place for old-world craftsmanship in the digital age.
The L.U.M. table lamp's ash or walnut base supports a polished copper, polished aluminum, or satin-brass shade 13 ½ inches across and, inside it, a powder-coated steel light box that accepts 15-watt candelabra bulbs. A credenza, Fwd, combines matte-lacquered ash with legs in powder-coated aluminum and a top in satin brass, polished copper, galvanized steel, or powder-coated steel. Width ranges from 48 inches, when specified with three sets of doors, to 95 inches for six. As for the Candy table, it comes in yummy teal, saffron, yellow, and pink lacquer in addition to white, gray, black, and custom options. Legs are solid birch, while the top is MDF, 23  ½ inches in diameter. 718-383-7070; umproject.com
