The Art of the Dance

Annie Block, Mark McMenamin, and Meghan Edwards -- Interior Design, 10/1/2011 6:37:00 PM

Meghann Snow

Ever since Meghann Snow was a child in Cleveland, her feet have been her artistic outlet. She was a competitive figure skater until 15, when she switched to ballet. Then, at the University of Akron, she discovered abstract painting, and feet seemingly diappeared from the picture. But not for long. After earning her MFA from Parsons the New School for Design in New York, she became a performance artist, crafting industrial materials-tape, bubble wrap-into "ballet shoes" that she wears to dance on large-scale canvases splattered with graphite or acrylic paint. She appears next as part of the Parisian performance series Dimanche Rouge, on November 20.
