Alert the workforce. Parallel Design Partnership principal Ali Tayar has the cure for the common cubicle. His Icon is the latest modular office system in an architect-designed series from three-year-old Lerival.
Charged with harmonizing flexibility and privacy, Tayar had an even loftier ambition: to transcend the familiar office configuration by redefining space. His secret weapon? Powder-coated aluminum sheets bent at one end to fasten together as three units ready to accept shelves of ½-inch-thick lacquered MDF. The standard module is 25 inches square, the mini is exactly half that, and the corner unit is 25 inches high by 11 wide; all are 11 inches deep. Mix and match for practically unlimited configurations-with or without the 25-by-60-inch desktop, also lacquered MDF. Standard colors are teal for the units, coral for the shelving and desktop. Custom colors also welcome. 646-470-1229; lerival.com.
