Congratulations to the second round of Top Green Project Picks!

 

MyGreenPalette.com and Interior Design.net teamed up to help you get your great green projects showcased and enter to win an Apple iPad at the same time. Here is the second group of green winners that will move on to the final round:


Robert Moylan, SmithGroup, Burgess Group Headquarters, Alexandria, VA

This SmithGroup designed building, for the Burgess Group, was constructed with a green roof, low flow plumbing fixtures and permanent entry grate systems in the vestibule to control indoor pollutants. The design features daylight sensitive controls, occupancy sensors and dimmers. 92% of construction demolition and packaging debris from the construction of the new space were diverted to uses other than landfill. This project is Platinum LEED-CI V3 certified project.

Smith Group



Tryggvi Thorsteinsson & Erla Dogg Ingjaldsdottir, Minarc, Santa Monica, CA

This repurposed, reused, recycled 5-unit apartment building was converted to a single family residence by remodeling less than 50% of the existing structure. The design features: maximum use of natural light to cut down on electrical costs, solar thermal radiant floor heating through-out, solar water heating, salvaged wood for beams, recycled wood kitchen, and 90% of furnishings and carpet were reused.
