Watch your back—there's an artist in the office. It's NoPattern Studio's founder, Chuck Anderson, whose impressionistic strokes are screen-printed in custom colors on the nylon mesh back of Very Task, one of Michael Welsh and Nicolai Czumaj-Bront's additions to the Very seating series from Haworth. Artwork aside, the chair fulfills various ergonomic demands, including asymmetrical lumbar support. The five-star aluminum base, the glass-filled nylon back frame, and the aluminum arms combine for dimensions of 44 inches tall by 27 wide by 22 deep. 800-344-2600; haworth.com. circle 409

Maharam

Digital Projects, a collection of large-scale wall coverings printed with high-tech replications of art or graphics, stretches the boundaries not only of textiles but also of the imagination. This season, fashion designer Paul Smith enters the fray with Transparent Stripe. Free-flowing summer clothes inspired overlapping washes of watercolors that are digitally transferred onto a substrate of cellulose, latex, and nylon. The standard size for a panel is 10 by 17 feet, however custom dimensions are easily accommodated. 800-645-3943; maharam.com. circle 424

Like most people these days, Jeff Miller is doing more with less. In fact, his CH benches are built from multiples of just a single component, combined to create countless seating or table arrangements. Configuring a design is something of a geometry proof—four units make a square, five a pentagon. Line them up for a long bench, or go organic with random placements. Available in white, black, green, yellow, and orange, the low-density polyethylene modules measure 28 inches wide, 24 deep, and 15 high. 212-217-0642; itokidesign.com. circle 425

When clients demand choices, Volant swoops in to oblige. Lucci Orlandini Design's contoured creation comes as an armchair or as a side chair, the latter with an optional swivel mechanism. Both have stacking capability and measure 31 inches high by 20¾ deep, though the armchair is about 4 inches wider, at 25 inches. One seat option, fused polypropylene, comes in solid red, blue, white, or black or in a two-tone combo. Those naturalists in the bunch may specify beech or wengé veneer. And then there's upholstery: Any vinyl or fabric. Legs, the sole constant, are aways white powder-coated steel. 800-873-3252; falconproducts.com. circle 441

Like so many 1980's trends, the reign of the Memphis collective was fleeting. But no need to feel shortchanged. With a nod to the multicolored legacy of Ettore Sottsass, David Oakley introduces Memphis to Milan (. . . and Back Again). The three exuberant patterns are produced in 20-inch nylon squares: the squiggles of Doodle, the aggressive high-contrast of Union Avenue, and the colorful stripes of Beale Street. (Yes, from that other Memphis.) Repeat a single pattern, or mix-and-match for a Sottsass-worthy effect. 800-634-6032; interfaceflor.com. circle 442

Internships look good on a résumé, but nothing compares to graduating with a collection already on the market. Seven students in the Savannah College of Art & Design's fiber department will earn those bragging rights at NeoCon, thanks to a cooperative program. Together, professor Jeffrey Noonan and this manufacturer's director of product development, Lucia Kennerly, shepherded the class through the development of collections for two distinct sectors. For contract, Qubit's six cotton-nylon blends mimic cells and other biological structures. For hospitality, the five solution-dyed nylon patterns in Archepelagian Abode tap global motifs. 317-267-2626; mayerfabrics.com. circle 456

Teknion

Michael Vanderbyl has shuttled between commercial and residential spheres with ease. Now he's straddling them. His six Vignette pieces strike a comfortable balance between a formal reception and at-home ease. The sofa has a molded-plywood frame, plus chrome legs to coordinate with the cylindrical bases of the swivel lounge chair and low table. For upholstery, chose any standard or graded-in fabric or COM. Tabletop options are Carrara marble, painted wood, wood veneers, or Corian. 416-661-3370; teknion.com. circle 457
