Architectural League of New York Seeks Design Entries

Winners of the juried competition will each receive a $1000 prize.

Chrysanthe Tenentes -- Interior Design, 12/26/2006 12:00:00 AM

The Architectural League of New York is seeking applicants, due February 12, for the 2007 Young Architects Competition, celebrating design. The competition is part of the annual Young Architects Forum, which also includes exhibitions and a series of lectures. Winners, to be announced in late February, will receive a $1000 cash prize.

Applicants must be residents of North America not more than ten years out of graduate or undergraduate school; the program excludes current students. This year's theme is "Proof." "Proof is process, not product," note organizers. "Architecture starts with a speculation—a conceptual hypothesis—but gains traction through the subsequent testing, confirming, checking, and rechecking that happens when work meets world."

A jury composed of industry professionals and the Young Architects Committee will select work to be displayed in public forums, online, and at an exhibition at the Architectural League. A compilation of prize-winning projects is slated to be published by Princeton Architectural Press and the Architectural League.

Visit the Architectural League for entry forms, more information, or to view previous winners.
