Pantone Releases Color Report for Fall

The report is available free online.

Staff -- Interior Design, 2/9/2007 12:00:00 AM

Last week, Pantone released its Fashion Color Report Fall 2007, featuring the top 10 colors for women's fashion for the upcoming fall season, along with designer sketches, quotes, and headshots. The release of the report, available for free online, coincided with the start of New York Fashion Week.

To create the report, which it does each season, Pantone surveys fashion designers to collect feedback on prominent collection colors, color inspiration, color philosophy, and designers’ signature shades. The Pantone Fashion Color Report then serves as a reference tool throughout the year for fashionistas and designers alike, as well as many trades.

According to the report, “complex and exotic” describes the Fall 2007 color palette, with traditional neutral shades replaced by “rich, nuanced hues.” The top 10 most directional colors in women's ready-to-wear for Fall 2007 include earthy tones that “pay homage to nature,” such as chili pepper, green moss, cashmere rose, purple wine, and lemon curry, each of which has a corresponding Pantone value. The colors featured in the Pantone Fashion Color Report are culled from the Pantone Fashion + Home Color System.
