Axor Awards Innovative Bath Design

All entries included products manufactured by Axor.

Troy Adams DesignIn the Bathroom Design Competition, a recent contest held by bathroom furnishings manufacturer Axor, six swanky loos took home top prizes. The contest recognizes innovative bathroom projects by designers who “capture the design integrity, individuality, and luxury of Axor in today’s modern bathroom.” Winners were selected by Interior Design editor-in chief, Cindy Allen. All of the Axor products present in the first, second, and third prize-winning projects are designed by Philippe Starck.

Los Angeles-based Troy Adams Design is the grand prize winner. For “Bachelor Bath,” a project in Hollywood, California, the firm used the X Trim, Trio Diverter; 2-Handle Tub Filler; and the Lav Mixer.

McFarlaneGreen ArchitectureMcFarlaneGreen Architecture and Design, of North Vancouver, British Columbia is runner-up. For a residential project, designer Michelle Counihan chose the 2-Handle Lav Mixer and the Handshower.

Sieger Suarez Architectural PartnershipThe third prize winner is Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership, of South Miami, Florida. Designers Charles Sieger and Hose Suarez selected the Wall Mounted Widespread Lav Set and the Trim, Ecostat Thermostatic Mixer for a residential complex in South Miami, Florida.

Three firms received honorable mentions. Designer Inez Saunders of Inez Saunders Chicago-based Inez Saunders/Amy Rosengarten Interior Design used the Single-Lever Lavatory Mixer, designed by Philippe Starck for Axor, for “Powder Room.” Antonio Citterio’s fixtures are featured in “Organic Modernist,” designed by Curtis Popp, of Shelter Interiors, based in Sacramento, California. For an outdoor shower in Elsin Forrest, California, designer Laura Burns chose Starck’s Lav Set outdoor shower fixtures. Her namesake firm is located in Del Mar, California.
