Melding two of life's great aesthetic pleasures, watching movies and the height of fall foliage season in New England, the first annual Architecture & Design Film Festival is coming to Waitsfield, Vermont from September 24 to 27.
Taking place at the historical hamlet's Big Picture Theater and Café, the festival will feature over 30 films, including the Vermont premier of Objectified, never-seen-before-in-public footage of Frank Gehry made during the filming of director Sydney Pollack's Sketches of Frank Gehry, and new films on Rem Koolhaas and John Lautner. Also being screened is Bird's Nest, a film about Herzog and de Meuron's experiences building their stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and shorts by Charles and Ray Eames and their grandson Eames Dimetrios.

The Green Mountain State isn't going to be short on green programming either as there will be several films about environmental design, including Garbage Warrior and The Greening of Southie.
An architecture tour of Mad River Valley homes will be taking place as well, on September 26.

The festival is being presented by Bergman Design Team and all proceeds from the event will go directly to benefit Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Warren, Vermont. Tickets will be $10 per film and $8 for seniors, students, and AIA and other design organization members (attendance will count for a continuing education credit from the AIA).
