The Venezuela-based Fundación Cisneros, dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich artistic heritage of native Amazonian cultures, received the distinguished Leone D'Oro Di San Marco prize for its Orinoco Collection of ethnographic objects. "The award recognizes the beauty and power of these diverse cultures, which are so rapidly disappearing," says the foundation's Patricia Cisneros. The collection, the first from Latin America to receive the prestigious honor, is on public view for the first time in Orinoco-Paríma: Indian Societies in Venezuela, a traveling exhibition at the Völkerkundemuseum in Frankfurt, Germany, from February 16th through September 23rd.
