Haworth Opens Fourth Green Showroom

The USGBC has awarded the firm's Chicago and Los Angeles showrooms LEED-CI Gold.

This month, office furniture manufacturer Haworth swings open the doors to what could be its fourth showroom to receive a LEED-CI Gold from the U.S. Green Building Council. The Dallas, Texas location, designed in collaboration with Perkins + Will | Eva Maddox Branded Environments, features adaptable and sustainable workspaces and a “state-of-the-art ideation lab,” drawing together the minds of designers, architects, contractors, technology experts, and business leaders, according to press material.

Interior Design Hall of Fame winner Eva Maddox directed the design team on the 18,000-square-foot space, located at the Republic Center (325 North St. Paul Street). Project oversight came from the local Perkins & Will office. The adaptable interior features Haworth products—nearly all of Haworth’s North American products are Greenguard certified—and a slew of recycled and renewable materials. Furnishings are composed of rapidly renewable resources such as wheatboard, most product fabrics are made from recycled content, and casegoods and systems wood are Forest Stewardship Council certified. To ensure minimal energy consumption, Haworth tapped into local sources for most construction materials.

To date, the firm has received LEED-CI Gold certification for both its Chicago and Los Angeles showrooms. The Dallas showroom—as well as the recently opened Washington, D.C. showroom—are currently in the certification process.

“Our new process and technology enables customers, designers, architects and all of the design team to quickly visualize and animate three dimensional design scenarios,” says Franco Bianchi, Haworth president and CEO.
