Hughes N'Cho-Allépot Home

Sometimes design happens to unsuspecting people. Hughes N'Cho-Allépot is one such person. The grandson of an Attie tribal chief, he was born in Ivory Coast and grew up in Paris, where he studied to become a lawyer. N'Cho-Allépot abandoned that plan after a bout of "soul-searching," he says, and landed in Brooklyn with just $400. That was six years ago. Today he has his own furniture company for which he designs luxurious, streamlined hospitality pieces. Pony skin, for example, tops the 24-inch-square Réga stool. The Lagos chair offers a generous 35-inch width. The pulls on the Asian-inspired Bilal buffet are brushed stainless steel. The oversize arms of the Milos love seat (and three-seater, bench, and lounge chair) eliminate the need for end tables. And the Mica ottoman is a compact 27 square inches. Among the options: 11 woods and 10 stains; 50 choices of linen, velvet, silk velvet, and silk, as well as leather and pony skin; and a large selection of cleanable fabrics that exceed 100,000 Wyzenbeek rubs. All pieces pass CAL 117 flammability testing. 50 Bond Street, New York, NY 10012; 212-475-2414; hughesncho-allepothome.com. circle 354

Les Ateliers Pinton

The ancient art of tapestry is updated with these modern low-warp Aubusson weaves. Pieces such as French artist Daniel Riberzani's L'eau are only produced eight times by Pinton, which purchases the rights to them. Several artists and designers are represented, including Alexander Calder, Le Corbusier, and Fernand Léger. Each tapestry is numbered and signed. Original sketches by other designers can be translated into custom tapestries. 65 Broadway, Suite 834, New York, NY 10006; 212-635-4172; ateliers-pinton.com. circle 355

Crypton

If Lady Macbeth had known of the three-piece Crypton Care cleaning system, that darn spot would have been out. Ideal for health-care and hospitality upholstery, the white is a fabric freshener, deodorizer, and neutral pH disinfectant; the gold removes protein-based stains (beer, blood); and the purple removes oil-based stains (makeup, motor oil). A stain chart is included. 6745 Daly Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48322; 800-279-7866; cryptonfabric.com. circle 356

Kravet

The vibe may feel out of Africa, but striped 26376-420, animal-checked 26469-410, and bouclé 26461-19 are at home in health-care and hospitality spaces alike. From the Crypton woven collection, the fabrics are offered in 13 combined colorways, are easy to clean, and have a surprisingly supple hand, even though they're iron tough. 225 Central Avenue South, Bethpage, New York, 11714; 888-891-4112; kravetcontract.com. circle 357

Designtex

These durable fabrics include the tree trunk–like polyester-rayon Hoxton in 13 colors, including Prussian. The leafy polyester-rayon-blend Arlington meets 100,000 double rubs in 10 colors, including Sea Glass. Abstract wisterias are rendered on polyester- rayon-blend Bonnington Square, which exceeds 90,000 double rubs in nine colors, including Pagoda. 200 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540; dtex.com. circle 358

Gloster

Stow poolside beverages in this handsome insulated cooler that's made of natural teak. Measuring 36 by 26 by 28 inches, it stores up to two cases of champagne. 1057 Bill Tuck Highway, Suite 201, South Boston, VA 24592; 888-456-7837; gloster.com. circle 359

Durkan

Graphic designer Virginia Langley is the vision behind the Wild Fire floor-covering collection. The patterns include the checkerboard VL8337-MW91, the crosshatch VL8337-MW91, and the fleur de lis VL6699-MW91. All may be produced as a printed or computer-placed yarn product. More than 1,150 colors are readily available, and more than 1,900 Pantone hues can be matched. 405 Virgil Drive, Dalton, GA 30721; 800-241-4580; durkan.com. circle 360

Warisan

Although the name means "future" in Japanese, the Mirai bed is actually built from the past. Distressed teak taken from demolished colonial-era buildings in Indonesia are reshaped and recycled into the Primitives furniture collection. The bed is available in three stain options—white wash, natural, and dark—and in standard queen and king sizes. 7470 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036; 877-927-4726; warisan.com. circle 361

Leucos

In the Junko fixture, amber-colored chains string together hand-blown glass tubes and rings highlighted by 24-karat gold joints; it's all held in place by a satin nickel frame. The piece comes in two colors and three sizes: 38 by 28 inches, 94 by 106 inches, and a circular 10-inch diameter that's 106 inches high. Applications include column, divider, decorative drapery, and lighting; it takes Par 16 and LED lamping. 11 Mayfield Avenue, Edison, NJ 08818; 732-225-0010; leucos.com. circle 362
