The Northern Pacific Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) wants to help companies create an environment employees won’t want to leave. Beginning in September, the organization will present the "Best Places to Work" Corporate Forum, a three-part lecture series drawing together experts from corporate real estate and facilities, human resources, and information technology.
Each lecture will approach emerging trends, provide background research on key drivers, and highlight examples of how companies are addressing related issues. The first lecture, sponsored by architecture firm IA Interior Architects, will be held September 13 at 7:30 a.m. at the Seattle Public Library. The discussion will be led by Jim Ware and Charlie Grantham, authors of the new book Corporate Agility: A Revolutionary New Model for Competing in a Flat World.
The second lecture, presented by furniture manufacturer Knoll, will focus on people and feature Knoll’s director of workforce research Camille Venezia. The event will be held November 14 at 5:30pm at the Seattle Art Musåeum.
The final lecture will focus on technology. Hosted by NBBJ, the event will present Brian Sherwood of Boeing as the guest lecturer and will be held December 5 at 7:30am.
"With the global marketplace pushing for increased speed to market and process efficiency, recruitment of top talent and employee retention is a paramount concern," notes Mark Gribbons, senior associate of IA Interior Architects and program chair for the IIDA Best Places to Work lecture series. "Companies are offering creative work settings that afford employees with the flexibility to choose how they work by customizing their environment and work hours."
All three lectures are free for IIDA members, $25 for non-members, and $10 for students.
